Immigration recruitment saga: where is the hope for Nigeria future generation? Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Abba Moro and Nigeria Immigration services (NIS)

I forward this article as an open document to express the minds of most aggrieved youths of this country Nigeria because we are now living in era where we use open letter to express views in Nigeria. The genesis of this recruitment saga started late last year when Nigeria immigration service(NIS) through federal ministry of interior through Civil Defense Fire Immigration and Prisons Service Board (CDFIPB Platform) through Pay4me online Agent Company through selected Banks announced ghost vacancies into different entry level cadre of Nigeria Immigration Service(NIS).

All over Nigeria most long awaited and hopeless graduate who has left university for years without any profitable engagement and interested individuals sniff N1000 (one thousand naira) out of unavailable resources to pursue this ghost application. Out of one thousand paid to the approved banks according to payment receipt issued by banks, N850 (Eight hundred and fifty naira) was deducted as application fee charge while N150 (one hundred and fifty naira) was deducted as transaction fee which goes to the banks.

Although the total number of applications received was uncertain but some media hold at Five Hundred Thousand (500,000) whiles the expected vacant position is just Three Thousand (3,000) using the normal sharing formulae. Few days ago, CDFIPB Platform released official statement through their website that selection procedure cum aptitude test taking will commenced on 15^th march 2014 by 7am at designated centers all over the country. Initially, I was confused at this development asking these questions within myself

•   How can several thousands of people seeking employment to government own establishment converges at a stadium to write entry level examination?
• When does a stadium become a centre for writing examination?
• What numbers of personnel will be provided to manage, organize and conduct fair examination that will be free from malpractices and criticism in a public stadium?
•  How comfortable is going to be for the applicants to write test without tables and others provisions that can enhance applicant’s performance?

Initially, within myself I guess these are just assuming questions but perceived this idea is not far from “day light robbery” because I know that this is not going to work!

However, proposing a single centre for each states of the federation, Nigerians long awaited job seekers traveled all over the state of the federation to ensure getting to centers before the schedule time. Many Nigerians pass on the nights in some of these centers especially those that travel a long distance to meet up with 7am dead line. As at 5.30am the national stadium Lagos has been filled up with mamoth crowd
dressed in white T-shirt, Boxer shorts, Socks and Tennis shoe for the exercise.

“Ironically, as one of the applicants, the emptiness, untidiness, lack of no visible preparation reminds me of the kind of country we are in and the expected result of this ailing recruitment exercise”. Before 7am, the whole stadium has been filled up waiting for the organizers to kick up the recruitment process. To my amazements, Nigerians future leaders and comrade were standing hanging around in the stadia environment with no hope, no canopy, no chair, no information, the main gate to the stadia where the exercise will take place was under locked till 12pm applicants were just hanging around the stadia. “With that amount of expected mamoth crowd, there is no visible preparation”

Imagine somebody not a criminal standing for 7 (seven) hours with head nocks front, back, left, right and center. Events scheduled for 7am at Lagos centre does not witness any official communication from any quarters until around 12pm before any information was held about the exercise. The crowd was massive yet the entrance door to the stadia was monopolized given few personnel’s available to control the mamoth crowd. The irony of this is that innocent citizens were brought to war front to stampede themselves for ghost job vacancies while organizers sleep in peace in their homes with their family.

“There is no visible preparation in all the centers; the total number of government officials put in place by government to manage, coordinate, secure and assess and conduct aptitude test for stadia filled applicants were less than thirty(30) including Nigeria immigration service and civil defense officials put together” what an irony?

A democratic government expected to provide jobs for 3,000(three thousand) citizens and more than 500,000(five hundred thousand) applied, this tell so much about the status of governance in that country. Assuming all is well with that economy, what can make five hundred thousand citizens competing for three thousand jobs?

“My personal experienced from national stadium Surulere Lagos gave me an indication that Nigeria nation is like a ship in the middle of an Atlantic ocean” if that population are just faction of those that are not productively
engage then Nigeria does not worth to be a country worse still there is no
governance in Nigeria”

Officially, NIS
(Nigeria Immigration service) conduct no aptitude exam, few Nigeria were gathered to do class work. This is because most Nigeria media reported that accreditation and aptitude test was conducted for applicants. “This information is false and an infringement on the right of thousands of Nigerians converge at
various location yesterday by NIS, CDFIPB platform and ministry of interior to justified one thousand illegally robbed and ripe off from innocent citizens”.

All over the centre in the whole federation, the aggrieved Nigeria youths can only accept this if all these questions are treated by these groups of defaulters

• All over the federation, what is the total number of applicants that successfully wrote the exam with no grief?
• How many of these centers carry out physical fitness test as purported by NIS, CDFIPB and the supervised ministry?
• What specific and visible preparatory facilities put in place to absolved the mamoth crowd?
• What methodology was used to distribute and collect the purported question papers from the applicants?
• Why the participants were kept unattended to behind the schedule time because nothing happens in most centre until 12pm whereas majority was already assembled before 7am?
• What provision was in place in the entire centres as per seat, information dissemination,logistic, emergence, crowd control etc?
• According to CDFIPB, they are 3 set of questions meant for different groups of applicants, Bsc, HND, OND and others.
• How many applicants get the appropriate question and how do they get the questions?
• Those that struggled to get the purported question, how do they get it and what provision is made for submission?
• The purported accreditations, what percentage of the applicants were accreditated and what measured was used for the accreditation?

At national stadium Surulere Lagos, applications were on standing from 7am till around 12pm before particular entrance to the stadia was opened. What determined whether one will get in or not depend on one ability to smuggle his or her self through the narrow gate. At a point white T-shirt had become Brown Tore shirt because of the struggled for survival”. At a point, applicants travelled as far as 10km away from stadium to Surulere area of Lagos province to make photocopies for themselves and that is exam conducted by Nigeria immigration service supervised by Government. Majority in Surulere area sat in comfort of beer-parlor to write the purported examination!

Almost 80% of the participants at National stadium Surulere couldn’t get the question, out of three categories of questions available regardless of your qualification if you are fortunate, struggled for any purported question to register your IM number (application number) and you are  succeeded with this, where and whom are you going to submit to?

19 Nigerians dies in this deceitful, fraudulent, and corrupt oriented purported recruitment saga! The recruitment is fabricated by the unshakeable in our dear country to buffer their wealth, innocent Nigerians were defrauded and create a scene for them to murder themselves while their family enjoy robust life in places of their choices all over the world!

“I want to assure concern authority and organizers that the bloods of these innocent
citizens were upon them and their generation”. Take their money and also take their life”

The Punch newspaper dated March 16, 2014 online articled titled 18 die in Migration recruitment exercise wrote that:

• Seven (7) were confirmed dead after a stampede at the national stadium Abuja
• Three(3) out of the 11,000 (Eleven Thousand Participants) who converge in women day secondary school Minna died when security agencies fired Tear gas at anxious applicants the same scenario that happened at National stadium Surulere Lagos
• Five(5) persons including a pregnant woman also lost their lives during a stamped at the Port Harcourt Liberation Stadium out of 35,000 applicants
• Three(3) pregnant women dies in Edo state recruitment centre 22,000 applicants was recorded at Sport Centre in Kwara state
• 15,000 applicants was recorded at Sani Abacha stadium Kano
• More than 17,800 applicants recorded at Aku stadium Makurdi Benue state
• About 5,000 applicant recorded at Gombe centre
• More than 22,500 recorded at Obafemi Awolowo stadium Centre, Ibadan Oyo stat
•  6000 applicants recorded at Samsom Siasia Stadium
• 11.  30,000 applicants converge at command secondary school along Zaria Road Plateau

These are some facts obtained from few centers from states of the federation just for 3,000 vacant job!

“To the minister of interior, Comrade Abba Moro and his associates, you are quoted by the media that the dead victims and physically dead others who managed to scale through mass slaughtering recruitment saga were impatient” that is good of minister of a whole federation who gathered 22,500 Nigerians from Oyo state for instance under supervision of less than 30 personnel and blame dead victims for impatient who died as a result of stampede. Funny enough, can 100 people managed 22,500 goats or dogs talk less of human being?. This happen to show the level of competence, commitment and dedication of people we have in the position of leadership”

Assuming the victims were family, daughter and sons of the honorable Minister and his ally who blame their management incompetence on victims of fraud motivated recruitment saga, I hope he dare not make this comment” Sorry for this country and its leadership, is it a country who could not conduct recruitment exercise without blood letting that will organize peaceful election come 2015?. I know we don’t value life in Nigeria but the blood of the innocent will surely demand for revenge”. The fact remains that, government can’t continue to sacrifice the youths of this country to meet selfish interest and political aspiration,

Nigeria youths were deprived of their constitutional right, yet robbed and still went ahead to create scene for them to murder themselves.Mr president and his allies need to apologies to aggrieved youth of these country for failure of leadership and misplacement of priority, at least if you can’t help us, stop this extortion and stop all this killings that looms over the country. We are tired of this blood letting of innocent citizens of this country! If you can’t give us hope and restore our lost hope then stop stealing our hope and future from us. These killings must stop in Nigeria enough of these bloods letting!
