The Nigeria medical association (NMA) threatening to shut down the Nigeria health sector if their demand are not responded to by the government. The 5days build up or warming strike which commenced yesterday 18 December 2013 is staged to force the government to consider it request for needed reforms in the sector.

Ezone gathered that, this strike has paralyzed health delivery service in all the state in the country. For instance in Ondo state, medical doctors in public hospital also complied with the national warming strike. The doctors were not on duty but nurses and their supporting staff were on ground to attend to the patients. Also in Edo state, there is a full compliance in all the general hospitals. Quoted from press released by the vice chairman Nigeria medical association, Edo state branch, Dr Sunday Yerimo explained that, Nigeria medical association need total transformation, he further stressed that government should provide the needed finances to train workers and upgrade it s facilities Ezone gathered

According to information available to us at Ezone, the association last ultimatum issued to government expired on Sunday, 14 December, 2013 and the association is insisting that there is no going back on their demands

Dr. Osahon Enabulele, the association president after their   meeting with the union members on Sunday said Nigerians need to rise up to their responsibility, demand answers to some of these issues that are confronting Nigeria governing system, he reiterated that, we cannot have a government that says they are building up yet they seem to be in slumber over issues that affect fortune, destiny and value of our country Ezone gathered

The association demand government to invest more in health sector through universal health fund and to sponsored hospital development and intervention fund (HDIF). In order for the health industry to provide modern and world class health delivery service to Nigerians Ezone gathered

We hope that this strike will not match with ASUU strike. In order to safe poor Nigerians who do not have money to embark on medical check up and health attention abroad. I think concern authority has to resolve this matter fast, God safe Nigerians from day to day strike in all sectors of their daily in life.
