Barely 5 month of prolong
battled between the federal government of Nigeria and Academic staff union of
Nigerian universities (ASUU) has reached a compromise dated December 17 2013.
The strike, which began in July, was called off by the union at its national executive
committee meeting that ran very late on Monday night which was held at federal
university of technology, Minna, Bida, Niger state.
The meeting was held to
look over an agreement signed by the union leadership and federal government
last week Wednesday 11th of December
After months of
negotiation, the agreement signaled the end of the strike. Dr. Nasir Fagge, the
union’s president, promised a decision would come within a week after signing
the agreement Ezone gathered”
Lesson to learn from
this strike
- Both the government and ASUU should find more diplomatic way to resolve their differences
- Government should be more proactive in the development of education in Nigeria
- Government should know that, the public institution is the last hope of common Nigerian citizens who could not afford private school and foreign education for their children
- Development of local schools can help to reduce corruption because , if the public schools are functional , the public office holders will not steal government money to send their children’s to private schools or to foreign countries
- Since no country can grow without education, then more funding should be allocated to the development of the sector for sustainable manpower development
- Good educational policies should be develop and implemented that will compel all corporate organization in the country to contribute to funding and development of education
- All school should also develop good relationships and alliance with their alumni and alumnus for financial support after graduation
Congratulation to all
Nigeria students as you goes back to classrooms. Ezone correspondences gather
that most schools will not resume back for academic activities until January
but contact your school for updated information
Great Nigerian Students
